Documentary  – this is absolutely fascinating

Another scientific look at marathon training. This documentary examines the human body’s capacity for long distance running.

The people involved are completely untrained at the start and their goal is to run a marathon by the end. There are a number of injuries, but the team spirit is great and it shows what a group dynamic can do for motivation.

A very good tip for training is to find a training partner, or preferably several. It’s much harder to make excuses on a cold morning in winter, when you know the others are going to be there and complain at you if you don’t show up.
